 Invitation Letter

If you need an invitation letter, whether for a VISA applicaiton or other purposes, please refer to the section of VISA.

  VISA

Please visit the web site of the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan) and check with your goverment office for VISA application to Taiwan. For those who need an invitation letter for VISA application, please check the correspondent option while doing registration and send the following information to belle2trgdaq@gmail.com (mail subject: invitation letter request):

 

  • Title
  • Full name
  • Institution name
  • Institution address
  • Your major task in Belle II trigger/DAQ systems
  • Purpose of this invitation letter
     

It will usually take a few days to prepare the letter.

 * Exit and Entry permit to Taiwan (for visitors from mainland China)

For visitors from the mainland China, an entry and exit permit is needed to enter Taiwan. Please check on this site for the details for application. Due to expected long processing time, the visitor is recommanded to prepare all necessary documents as soon as possible and send them to us before 30 June 2017.

 Access information/Maps ...

There are two airports near the Taipei city. Most of you will land at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). For visitors from the mainland China, Japen, and Korea, you may arrive at the Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA). Please check with your airlines company for at which one your flight will land. The detail instructions of how to get to NTU and your hotel is in the following.

Currency

The local currency is the New Taiwan Dollar (currency code: TWD/ common abbreviation: NTD or NT$).

Foreign currencies can be exchanged at airports and a number of hotels and government-designated banks. Major credit cards (Master, VISA) are widely accepted, and traveler's checks may be accepted by a number of tourist-oriented shops and at most international tourist hotels and banks.

 

Electricity

The household electricity in Taiwan is 110 V, 60 Hz. There are two type of receptacle:   


Time Zone

Taiwan is in +8 time zone, i.e. 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
 

Climate

Taiwan enjoys a subtropical climate, with warm, mild weather the year round, however, it is getting unpredictable in the recent years.  August is usually one of the hottest months of the year in Taiwan, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. It is also a good time to appreciate one of the nature magical superpowers, typhoon, in this season, if you are lucky.  The average temperature in Taipei is often above 30°C/86°F (even 35°C/95°F during day time). It is recommanded to bring an umbrealla with you. A last minute cancellation of 0.5~1.0 day meetings is possible due to weather condition.
